Alma Baudoin Gorski age 94 of Robbinsdale, formerly of Springfield.

Alma was born and raised near the town of Maurice, Louisiana. She was proud of her Cajun heritage. Her family spoke Cajun in the home and she did not learn English until she began her formal schooling. She still would speak Cajun with her Louisiana family. Growing up she worked alongside the rest of her family as share croppers in the cotton fields. Being from a humble background, Alma would hunt for a bargain and she had no problem in asking for an additional discount. She met her beloved husband, Ben, while she was attending secretarial school and working at a local bank and he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana during his Army service.

Alma was a consummate homemaker, baker and cook, making both Cajun and some Polish cuisine for her family. Her gumbo, shrimp and crawfish étouffée were always a hit with her family. She would often have a stash of "Grandma Cookies" in the freezer for the grand kids, making sure there were some chocolate chip cookies with and without nuts so no one would be disappointed. She was always on the lookout for something new to serve her dinner guests when she entertained. There was never a recipe that Alma would not try, at least once, with her family serving as the guinea pigs for her first attempts. She always, always, tested the recipe on her family before she would ever consider serving a new dish to guests.

She retired as a legal secretary from the law offices of O'Leary and Moritz in Springfield, where she had worked for many years. During her retirement she and her husband, Ben, traveled visiting family and seeking out new adventures. Their travels would eventually lead them to their winter havens of her sister’s camp and then the little Cajun house next to the home of her other sister and brother-in-law near Alma's hometown in Louisiana.

She was a volunteer at the St. John's Lutheran Home and St. Raphael Church in Springfield, North Memorial Hospital and the Church of the Sacred Heart in Robbinsdale. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and 500, and rarely missed her dear friend's monthly "Birthday Club" while living in Springfield.

Alma is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ben; grandson, Adam Gorski; her parents, Eula and Treville Baudoin; sister, MaeOla Duhon; sister-in-law, Nell Baudoin; nephews, Carlos and Ralph Menard; Ben's sisters, brothers, and their spouses.

She will be dearly and deeply missed by her children, Dee (Ed) Gaudet, Dana (Lynn) Gorski, Danelle (Ken) Coutts and Paige (Steven) Browne; grandchildren, Joshua (Allyson) Lang, Gerald (Allison Ives) and Joseph Gaudet, Brian and Gail Gorski, Benjamin (Alexia Stringer) and Samuel (Sarah Zimmermann) Coutts, Isabel, Dashiell and Eleni Jo Browne; great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Kayce, and Sarah Lang, Jackson, Riley, and Shayna Jo Gaudet; sister, Mary (Percy) Menard; brothers, Harris and Bobby (Jane) Baudoin; brother-in-law, Lester Duhon; Ben's sister-in-law, Barbara Gorski; a host of nieces, nephews, their families, and friends.
