Barbara Jane Blackey

Barbara Jane Blackey, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 9th, at St. Therese Care Center, New Hope, with devoted friends at her side.

Preceded in death by parents Julius and Helen Blackey, brother Robert Blackey and sister Margaret Blackey.

Survived by sister Mary Ann Blackey, nephew Jim Finch, nieces Stephanie McManus (Michael), Deborah Finch, Catherine McNeal Finch, loving caretakers and devoted friends Jan and Terry Binstock, and many other dear friends and relatives.

Barbara was born and lived in Robbinsdale her entire life.  She was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary Church, Golden Valley. The Church and her relationship with God were very dear to her.  She actively participated in the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Candle Ministry, the Befrienders group, and helped with many other ministries whenever needed. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, gardening, going out to eat, and visiting with friends.  She is remembered for her generosity, love of family and friends, kindness, and her “special fudge”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2323 Zenith Ave. N. Golden Valley, Mn 55422. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara’s name may be sent to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
