Barbara Irene (Scherer) Blaine. Age 87 of Plymouth, MN joined the company of the Lord on March 19, 2026. Barb was born March 20, 1938.
Barbara was raised on the family farm on the Plymouth/Medina border, the third of nine children. She was a lifelong resident of Plymouth MN and member of Holy Name of Jesus in Medina, attending school there Grades 1-8 followed by one year at Stanbrook Hall, Duluth and subsequent graduation from Wayzata High School in 1956. Though she started working at age 11 babysitting and picking strawberries for local farmers, she joined the professional working world after graduation at First National Bank in Minneapolis. This was followed by jobs at State Bank of Long Lake; Long Lake Nursing Home; Wayzata Public Schools Food Service; Peacock Alley; Busch Roses and Greenhouse; Target; and local hotel lobby shops; with caregiving for seniors and babysitting in between. Barbara married Joseph Blaine Jr. in August 1959 and they settled in Plymouth to raise their five children. Barb volunteered at Holy Name with the school and church in many capacities. Barb was a “do-er”-she had a servant’s heart and strove to be joyful and conscientious in all her roles. Her patience, selflessness and all-encompassing love will be missed.
Barbara is preceded in death by husband Joseph F. Blaine, Jr.; parents, Ervin & Gala Scherer; brother, Bill Scherer; infant brother, John; infant sister, Ruth; brothers-in-law, Adrian Jordan, Ron Winterhalter, Greg Reiser, Woody Johnson, Jerry & Bill Blaine; sisters-in-law, JoAnn & Rita Blaine; son-in-law, Ed Berland.
