Survived by husband, Harvey Helmin; sons, Thomas John, and Daniel Thomas (Joline) Castaneda; Barbara's grandchildren, Blake Thomas, Brittney Marie, Luke Daniel, and Jack Patrick Castaneda; Harvey's children, Stacy Marie (Matthew) Burton and Erica Lynn Ortiz; grandsons, Dyllan, and Mason Ortiz and Jaxson Helmin; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by infant daughter, Karen Elizabeth; parents, Elmer C. and Lucille E. Hartwig.
Barbara was a figure skating coach in the Twin Cities for more than 50 years.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Church of St. Olaf, 215 8th St., Mpls. Entombment Gethsemane Cemetery. Visitation , Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 5-8 PM at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N. and one hour before service at church.
