Listen to Obituary

Barb Johnson of Wayzata passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on February 12, 2026. She was born on May 23, 1951, in Le Mars, IA to Lowell and Margaret Utesch.

She is survived by her loving husband John of 54 years, her daughter Jenn, grandson Tyler; mother, Margaret Utesch, sister Marge Doeden (Steve), brother Charles Utesch (Jennifer), three nephews: Chris Utesch (Rachel), Justin Doeden (Nicole), and Michael Doeden. She is preceded in death by her father Lowell, and brothers Richard and Thom Utesch.

Through the years Barb had many hobbies from playing piano and knitting to ballroom dancing. She and John had many friends with whom they enjoyed endless evenings at Wayzata Country Club and fun couples and family vacations. She held a deep love for her family and even in her final days battling dementia, she never forgot any of them, which was truly a blessing.

Barb’s love for being a Nana to her sweet grandson Tyler was one of her biggest joys. She loved her little “Sweetie Bumps” to the moon and back.
