Brian D. Dieltz

November 9, 1958 — August 2, 2023

Brian D. Dieltz

Brian David Dieltz was born on November 9, 1958, the seventh child of Dale and Rosemary (Cotter) Dieltz. He was raised in Jasper, Minnesota and graduated from Jasper High School in 1977. Brian attended St. Cloud State University, graduating with a degree in photographic engineering. He applied that degree in his work at Drewry Photo in Burbank, California and Harold Photo in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and enjoyed an interest in photography throughout his life.

After continuing his education, Brian moved into the technology field, working for Analysts International Corporation in Rochester, Minnesota and then Lawson Software, Inc. in St. Paul, Minnesota. Brian’s career then took him to Xcel Energy, where he worked for nearly twenty years. In addition to supporting the power grid from the High Bridge and King Plants, he served as a union steward.

As a lifelong music lover, Brian collected music of all kinds and was particularly fond of live musical performances by local musicians. He not only tracked concerts he attended, but the different performance spaces, which ranged from the old Los Angeles Coliseum to a local graveyard. Brian delighted in connecting friends and family to new music and musical experiences. His annual “Best of” CD introduced people to new artists, and Brian’s notes explaining why each selection was meaningful to him were a worthy read.

Brian will be remembered for the love and support he provided to his nieces and nephews, siblings, and friends. His sense of humor, his love of good food, and his kind attention to others will be missed around our tables.

Brian is survived by his siblings:  John (Karla) of San Antonio, Texas, Maureen (Jeff) Anderson of Watertown, South Dakota, Madonna (Roger) Kufus of St. Paul, Minnesota, Michael (Sally) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Suzanne (Steve) Eide of Plymouth, Minnesota, Sharon (Mark) Poppendeck of Plymouth, Minnesota, Mary (Michael) Sanderson of Siren, Wisconsin, Margaret (Dale) Knudsen of Loretto, Minnesota, Kathleen (John) Hulterstrum of Litchfield, Minnesota, and twenty much-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Brian at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, Wayzata, Minnesota. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Jasper, Minnesota.
