Bruce Edwin Scott, age 80, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, walked into his heavenly home on March 6, 2026.
Bruce was born on September 9, 1945, to Dale Vernon Scott and Alva Jean Scott (née Opem), arriving alongside his twin brother Barry John. He grew up in Anoka, where he made many of his lifelong friends- the Benzians, Gallaghers, Adrians, Goodrichs, Petersons, Lukes, Weidenbachs, Beckmans, Potters, Soucys, Smalls, Gregersons, Jeanne Cook, and the list goes on. He graduated from Anoka Highschool, chaired the local Halloween festivities, and was a member of the Lions Club.
Bruce attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and the University of Minnesota. He proudly served his country as a Special Forces Medic on an A Team, serving in multiple theaters across Asia and the Middle East.
His greatest joy was his family, especially his wife of 50 years, Susan Rae Scott (née Skeie), whom he met on a blind date arranged by lifelong friend Pat Gallagher. Bruce was a loyal friend, a straight shooter with a quick wit, and someone who took genuine interest in everyone he met.
A dedicated and hardworking leader, Bruce spent his career at Main Motors in Anoka, Specialty Equipment in Mendota Heights, and MSI Engineering in Fridley, where he built lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. Despite injuries from his military service, Bruce's determination never wavered, and he was rarely seen without Sue by his side.
Bruce held a deep, private faith and trusted fully in God's promises.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Marjorie and Elmo Skeie; grandchild, baby Gustafson; several aunts, uncles, brothers- and sisters-in-law; and beloved nieces and nephews whom we have come to call the "Greeting Committee of the Cloud Coalition": sisters- and brothers-in-law, Carol, Jim, Martha, Alan, Linda, and Leeann; aunts and uncles, Ruby, Elder, Donna and Alan; extra-special nieces and nephews, Eric, Kevin, Gretchen, Kelly, Terry, Marshall, Morgan, and Tracy; and many dear friends. Bruce often expressed how unfair it was that these people passed before him, and we're sure he let them know immediately upon his arrival, then hugged them all, and sat down to play some cribbage with Auntie Carol, whilst holding his baby grandchild in his arms.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Jennie and Bryn; son-in-law, Scott Gustafson; grandchildren, Andrew, Owen, Libby, Parker, and bonus grandson, Luke; Bryn's partner, Chul; twin brother, Barry and sister-in-law Vickie and family; brothers-in-law, Tom, Richard, and Jerry; sisters-in-law, Mary, Kathy, and Sheri; over 80 nieces and nephews(including the greats); many close cousins; friends near and far, including his card club and neighbors. He adored you all.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the special friends who are chosen family and have been close during this difficult time- Sue Meagher, Fred Fiek, Pat Gallagher, the Garrigos family, the Sparklers, and from afar, the Falls, Morrows, and Vinges. We would be remiss not to mention the sweet canines who took turns comforting us all: Gus, Walter, and Winnie.
We also want to acknowledge the expert and compassionate care Bruce received over the last 25 years at Mayo Clinic, North Memorial Hospital, the Minneapolis VA Spinal Cord Unit, and finally North Memorial Hospice. We have deep gratitude for his care providers: Anna Toth PA-C; Mary Broughton PA-C; Dr. Jeffrey Strommen; Dr. Eric Nitz; ICU nurse Rayah and aide Emily; and hospice nurses Nicole and Andrew.
Bruce's Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 12th, 2026 at Gearty-Delmore Chapel 3888 W. Broadway, Robbinsdale, MN 55422. Visitation will begin at 5pm, and service at 6pm.
Bruce will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on March 13th.
