Carla A. Stewart

Carla A Stewart , 58,  passed away on Wednesday, February 1st  from complications of a stroke.  Carla was the much- loved daughter of Wayne (deceased) and Gloria.  She found and later married the love of her life, Mark. They enjoyed an adventure-filled 14 plus years of marriage.  In addition to her husband and her mother, Carla will be lovingly and joyfully remembered by her brother, Brian (Laura); nephew, Grant; niece, Heather (Ryan); mother-in-law, Nonie; sister-in law, Rita (deceased) who was married to Keith; brother-in-law, Rich (Cheryl); nephew, Andrew; niece, Alexzandra; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a plethora friends.

Carla was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines and Simpson College, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  She was a registered C.P.A. and had been with United Health Care as a valued and highly respected employee for more than 25 years.

Carla was a very active person who enjoyed a vast array of activities with the many of her friends:  Music: playing the French horn, piano; and singing- for many friends’ weddings, and while bell ringing for many years at Christmas. Athletics: participating in many events and completing an Iron Man Triathlon, many marathons and half-marathons; cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, and swimming. One of Carla’s greatest athletic accomplishments was hiking the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim in one day.

The visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023
