Funeral Service for Carol L. Meyer

Carol Lillian Meyer, age 92 of Plymouth (formerly of Mound), passed away on May 9, 2025.

Carol Lillian (Abraham) Meyer was born on July 6, 1932, to Louis and Lilly Abraham in Crown, MN, a small town just north of St Francis, MN. She grew up on a farm, with her parents and only sibling, an older brother, Robert (Bob). From birth on, her parents shared their Christian faith with Carol and her brother, and she deeply shared the love of Christ and loved the Christian community that surrounded her at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown. She attended Zion Lutheran Church Crown Christian School through 8th grade and graduated from St. Francis High School. She was also very involved in the Walther league, a youth and young people’s organization that helped her grow more deeply in her faith with other young Christian people. She was confirmed on April 14, 1946, where she professed her faith and did so her entire life until her passing on May 9, 2025.

She went on to attend Concordia University, St Paul to study Elementary Education. She was not only in the first class of women to attend Concordia, but due to her maiden name being Abraham, she had the distinction of being the very first woman to graduate from Concordia St Paul. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Kansas, where she taught grades K-4 for 1 year, before returning back home to MN. Upon her return, she moved to the city of Janesville, MN, where she taught at a parochial school. This is where she met the love of her life, Arnold N. Meyer. who was also a teacher at the same school. They dated, became engaged and married on July 16, 1955; and their first daughter, Shalimar was born in Janesville. They then moved to Faribault, MN, where Arnold continued teaching and later became a principal in the school district. Their family continued to grow, with the addition of 2 more daughters, Celeste and Kimberly. At this time, she decided to make a full-time career of being a mom, using her teaching skills with her 3 daughters, instead of in a classroom. Their final move was to Mound, MN in 1965 into the home where Carol lived for almost 60 years. In 1987, Arnold passed away after a battle with cancer. At 54 years old, she bravely spent her next 38 years as a widow, taking care of her home and finances on her own, while still being there to lend a helping hand and/or ear to her 3 daughters.

She was also a very loving and dedicated grandmother to her four grandchildren. She attended many of their school/sporting events and church activities, and was always willing to take time to be there for them. She shared her strong belief/faith with each one of them, and was never afraid to talk about her love of Christ with them.

She was an avid sports fan and followed many different sports teams, including the Twins, the Timberwolves, and was a U of M Gopher football season ticket holder for several years. She also played on a women’s fast-pitch softball team until she was 40 years old.

She was a 50+ year member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mound, MN, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Wednesday Midweek, served on the funeral and welcoming committees, and for several years, she was part of a braille bible making team that weekly produced pages for the blind to help spread the Word of God around the world. When any of the ladies of her congregation lost their spouse, she was the first person to go visit them, offer her help, and take them out for a meal to share time together in the Word of the Lord.

Later in life, after a handful of health setbacks, she eventually moved into hospice and passed away peacefully, still showing her strength and courage on May 9, 2025.

She is now celebrating her eternal life in heaven, with her Heavenly Father, reunited with her husband, her parents, her brother and many other family members and friends. She is singing her alleluias and praising her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer... be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelations 2: vs 10 (KJV)

Survived by daughters, Shalimar Baldry of Plymouth, Celeste (Rick) Trembley of Plymouth, & Kimberly (John) Carlson of Monticello; grandchildren, Nathan (Margaret) Trembley, Emma Baldry, Cassie Carlson & Olivia Carlson.

Preceded in death by husband, Arnold Meyer; parents, Louis and Lilly Abraham; brother, Robert Abraham.
