Carrol Jean Thomas Hyde

Carrol Jean Thomas Hyde, age 93 of Wealshire in Medina, MN. Passed away peacefully November 12, 2025.

Carrol was born on July 30, 1932, in Dodge City, KS. Graduated from Kansas State University in 1954 with a degree in Radio and Television. She pursued a career in television broadcasting and was the first women broadcaster for WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. Carrol met her husband, and love of her life, Arthur Dwight Hyde, Jr. in Fort Riley, KS, where he was serving in the U.S. Army. After Dwight’s military service, they moved to New York City in 1956 where Carrol began as stockbroker for the firm Arthur Anderson. Dwight’s career took them to homes in New York, France, Connecticut, and Wayzata, Minnesota. Carrol later lived in Scottsdale, AZ; Darien, CT; Rye, NY; Edwards, CO; Greensboro, NC and Plymouth, MN.

Preceded in death by parents, Glenn Edwin Thomas and Nina Allen Thomas; husband, Arthur Dwight, Jr., and her brother, Edwin Thomas.

Carrol is survived by four children: Josephine Allen Sparrow (Ray); Arthur Dwight Hyde, III (Laura); Thomas Laidlaw Hyde (Tracey); Jacob Maclay Reed Hyde (Jennifer); eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

Carrol was an active member of P.E.O. for more than 70 years, the Junior League for 30 years and the Presbyterian Church, often singing in the choir and teaching Old Testament history.

Carrol will be interred at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, with her husband Dwight.
