Charlene S. Levy

Charlene S Levy (Podas) passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022 at the age of 84.

Born of the 4th of July to Minnie Taylor Podas and Charles Podas, Charlene grew up in the Pearl Park neighborhood of Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School. She earned her BA degree at Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University and was president of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Charlene married Jon Lee Levy of Baton Rouge LA and taught elementary school while Jon finished law school at Tulane. Returning to Minnesota, Charlene and Jon had 2 sons, Jon Jr and Christopher. Although Charlene and Jon divorced they remained dear friends. Charlene went on to earn a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Minnesota, and worked for Hennepin County for many years. Volunteer work was always part of Charlene’s life. She was a member of the Junior League of Minnesota, AAUW, and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis.  In retirement Charlene lived at The Kenwood where she was president of the residence council and enjoyed many activities.

Charlene is predeceased by her parents, and survived by her sons Jon Jr. (Sarah), Christopher (Dawn), grandsons Anders and Dane, her siblings Patricia Ingersoll (Russell), Gary Podas (Kathy), Linda Chapman, nieces and nephews.
