Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarice Eloise Holmquist, who passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025. Clarice was born to Paul and Donna Jewell on July 20th, 1941, on the family farm in Eastern Township, rural Parkers Prairie. Claire attended Joy School through eighth grade and then graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. Following her graduation Claire moved to Minneapolis and worked for First National Bank. In 1980 she married Philip Holmquist whom she loved dearly. At that time Claire began working for Len Bush Roses with her husband. She worked as a Rose Grader, grading many beautiful roses until her retirement.

Claire loved spending time together with family and friends. Although she had no children of her own, her many nieces and nephews were close to her heart. She was always up for an adventure with her loved ones. She traveled to Germany to visit her sister, sailed on a Cruise ship through the Caribbean with several relatives and friends, flew to California to see her niece, and took a family road trip from Washington into Canada. Her first trip to Hawaii was for her honeymoon. Years later she returned to Kauai for a special trip with family and her siblings. Every summer she looked forward to vacations at the cabin in McGregor. Over the years she treasured going "home" to the Family Farm where she was born. For Claire joy was always found by being together with those she loved. Her happy, gentle, kind spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Claire's faith and love for Jesus, her Savior, guided her life. She drew strength, wisdom and compassion from her relationship with Jesus. Her church family and the Golden Agers held a special place in her heart.

As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing Claire is now rejoicing in the presence of her Savior and reunited with many loved ones. We are thankful for the sweet years we had with her. She will be missed deeply, but we find peace in the promise of a heavenly reunion.

Claire is survived by her husband Phil of 45 years, her brother Murel (Cheryl) Jewell; her sister Valera (Arlen) Turnquist; her sisters-in-law Carolyn Jewell and Judy Razo; Nieces; Nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Clair was welcomed to Heaven by her parents, Paul and Donna Jewell; brothers Calvin, Dwight, and Roger; Sister Lois Kirchner; and many other loved ones.
