Darryl Edward Dukek Sr., 89 of Minnetonka, MN passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born to Genevieve and Thomas Dukek on July 15, 1936.
Darryl was a very hard-working man who did everything to help support and take care of his family.
Darryl was born in St. Paul but lived throughout Minnesota growing up, working, and raising his family until he finally retired with his wife Rita to Corpus Christi, TX. Darryl met his wife Rita in Cozy's Bar in Minnesota. She had just moved up there from Texas and happened to meet Darryl one evening. Darryl always says the day they met was the best day of her life. It certainly kick-started a lot of wonderful memories. The two were together for over fifty years and were married for 48. He loved and missed her every day.
Darryl enjoyed taking care of everything around the house, doing his own repairs whether it be the car, lawn mower, furnace, you name it. With his background in engineering, he was very handy around the house. Darryl worked for St. Paul Ramsey Hospital (which later became Regions) for many years until he was able to fully retire at 62.
Darryl would go to church all the time with his wife Rita. He enjoyed spending time with her and doing things that they both liked. In his free time, Rita and he would take many road trips including going to the casino where they would try to get rich. He enjoyed watching movies from his younger days (especially John Wayne), watching boxing, playing cards, and listening to Dean Martin songs.
Darryl leaves behind his children, Ada McVay, Arturo Jurado and Darryl Dukek Jr., and his wife Jenny Dukek, along with sisters Lois Dukek and Mary Lynn Flemino. He is reunited with his loving wife Rita Dukek, his parents Genevieve and Thomas, and his many brothers and sisters.
Celebration of life for Darryl and Rita Dukek will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1PM to 4PM at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W Broadway Ave Robbinsdale, MN 55446.
