David played fast-pitch softball and was “Mr. Consistency” as a pitcher for many seasons with Byerly’s. In 2014, he was inducted into the MN Softball Hall of Fame. A longtime youth Hockey Coach with Armstrong Association, as well as VP of MN Hockey. He also Refereed High School basketball for 20 years.
Married to his H.S. sweetheart Judith Enfield on July 27th, 1963 (they met in typing class & were in Band together), ‘Dave & Judy’ moved from Crystal to New Hope in Spring, 1973 and resided in their home on 36th Avenue N. as a loving couple for 50-plus years…. raising their boys & 7 family dogs (Copper, Buffy, Pierre, Wiggy, Tucker, Buddy & Trooper) besides creating many fun and enduring memories at the family cabin in Pequot Lakes.
After his 80th birthday celebration was postponed by a year due to the pandemic, David clicked off several more stellar milestones before leaving this earthly plane, including: “A Half Century at 8330”, his “30,000TH DAY on Earth” party, followed by David & Judith’s Diamond 60th wedding anniversary—ALL in 2023!— and then, his twin grandson’s High School graduations in 2024.
They even made it back from their first year in College to say goodbye to their Grandpa before he slipped away on Wednesday 5/21/25…. a Palindrome date, no less!
A gifted athlete and avid outdoorsman, David was happiest on the field or stadium, at the Lake, and being Lukas & Landon’s #1 Cheerleader at their hockey & lacrosse games. Cheers to a life well lived! R.I.P. Grandpa
