Van Asch, David Wayne "Dave" 64 of Coon Rapids, Minnesota passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2025 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by family.
Born January 16, 1961 to Eugene and Marilyn Van Asch. Dave grew up in the Minneapolis area.
He enjoyed swimming and excelled on Cooper high school's swim team.
He worked as a cook at Trevilla of Robbinsdale and was a skilled laborer for the City of Minneapolis.
Dave cherished his family. He was a proud father to both Brianna and Gina and enjoyed taking on a new title of Grandpa this past year.
Dave had a deep appreciation for music throughout life. Especially heavy metal and rock.
Deep Purple was his favorite.
He was a big Vikings fan as well!
Loyal to all Minnesota sports teams.
Often shared his sense of humor with others.
Recall him joking "I always wanted the vikings to be my pallbearers, so when I die they could let me down one last time"
Maybe this will be their year?!?
He loved fishing when he could. Many cherished summer vacations included time spent out on the lake hoping to reel in the big one!
Dave was dealt some difficult cards in life- not only losing his oldest daughter tragically in a car accident, but also being faced with MS and the limitations it brought upon him.
Despite this, he did his best to remain positive, he made it his goal to try to put a smile on 3 people's faces each day.
And while his loss brings grief, Dave would want others to remain positive. Remember him in a good light- a memory, a joke he told you, a piece of advice or some banter you recall sharing with him.
Dave is survived by: Daughter Gina (Shane) Jaring, Grandson Leo Jaring; Sister Leigh (Dan) Olson; Niece Laura (Dom) Torreano (Baby Torreano); Former spouse Brenda Van Asch; and many loved ones.
Preceded in death by: Beloved daughter Brianna Van Asch; Parents Eugene and Marilyn Van Asch; and several close friends whom he will be reunited with again.
