age 65, of Maple Grove, passed away August 28th, 2024, after a brief, but very courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Ruthlynn Gellerman and nephew Matthew Warren.
Dave grew up in a large family in Brooklyn Center, MN. He worked as a graphic artist and advertising writer for most of his working career. He was a caring brother, a fun uncle, and a good friend to many people in his life. His love of life, nature, and adventurous spirit always gave him great stories to tell. Dave cherished his family and friends and always went out of his way to show them that. He had a huge heart, and his kindness and generosity were so appreciated by everyone he came into contact with. His humor and quick wit brought laughter and levity to every situation and made him a guy everyone enjoyed being around. Dave was actually a creative genius, an exceptional artist and very gifted writer. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, vintage (classic) cars and really anything that involved being outside. He loved his dogs (mostly rescues) and he would take them with him wherever he went, whether it was to a car show, a fishing trip, or even just out for a drive in the country. Sometimes they would stop at estate sales where Dave would look for anything nostalgic that reminded him of the “good old days.” Dave was truly one of a kind and he really just made life better for all of us! We will miss his voice, his laughter and all of the crazy texts he would send to us. We are all so thankful for the time he shared with us, and we will forever cherish those memories!
David is survived by his siblings: Jeffrey, John (Sherry), Christopher, Susan (Gary) Warren, Peter (Joann), Nancy (Richard) Hansen and his canine companion Elvis. Also, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, many cousins, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 2pm Sunday, Oct. 20 at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to an animal shelter, or donor’s favorite charity.
