Donald Anthony McCoy Jr., affectionately known as Boobie, was born on June 10, 1967, to the late proud parents, Fannie Bey and Donald McCoy Sr. in Gary, Indiana. He attended Charles Drew Elementary, Dunbar Pulaski Middle School, and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
Boobie was a smart, gifted and creative young man who taught himself to sew by hand. His passion for fashion began early-designing matching outfits for himself and his cousin Jaquan, including their winning Michael Jackson contest looks. He always won 1st place for his extraordinary outfits. His talent and eye for detail led him to design clothes for many others, from dance outfits to wedding suits.
He met the love of his life Angela McCoy in Gary, Indiana and they later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Boobie worked in a clothing store where his style and skill stood out. Recognizing his gift, his employer helped him open his own store. Boobie was known as a talented stylist and designer who made sure everyone left looking their best.
His creativity extended beyond clothing-he had a sharp eye for home décor and design. Above all, Boobie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who worked tirelessly to ensure his children and grandchildren had everything they needed and more. He was a true family man, always putting his loved ones first and making sure they were surrounded by love and opportunity. Beyond providing for them, he made it a priority to create unforgettable experiences. Boobie took his kids, grandkids, niece, and nephew on incredible family trips, traveling to 22 different states over the years. These trips weren't just about sightseeing-they were about building bonds, creating memories, and having adventures together that would last a lifetime.
His home was always filled with laughter and warmth, as he hosted countless parties for the kids, from birthdays to holiday gatherings. He went above and beyond to make sure every event was special, making it a point to give them the best of everything. Whether it was decorating the house, planning fun games, or ensuring there was always plenty of food and laughter, Boobie made every moment count.
More than just a provider and a host, Boobie was a constant source of pride for his family. He celebrated every accomplishment, big or small, and always encouraged his loved ones to strive for their best. He was fiercely proud of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and made sure they knew just how much they meant to him. His love, generosity, and devotion were unmatched, and his family will always remember him for the joy and support he brought into their lives.
