Donald D. Truax

Donald D. Truax, age 92, of St. Louis Park, passed away peacefully on October 9th at St Therese of New Hope. He is survived by Marie, his loving and beautiful wife of 72 years, and 7 children: Gary Martinez (Lydia), Donna Gears (Cris), Doug Truax (Susie), Daryl Truax, Gail Truax (Tom Triden), Theresa Gilseth (Bob), and Mary Ellen Hausladen (Joe); plus 20 grandchildren, more than 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  In addition, Don is survived by brothers Gil Truax (Helen) and Joe Smith (Judy), and by sister Barb Groth. After growing up in Northfield, Don joined the army during the Korean War, and while serving at Camp Stoneman in California he met Marie, the love of his life. After completing their service, the young couple moved to the Twin Cities to raise a family, There was no depth to the love Don had for his family, and the frequent Truax family gatherings are legendary. He was an active member of the American Legion, and he enjoyed fishing, dancing and almost every kind of sport. Don’s funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 18th, with visitation at 10:00am, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 145 Jersey Ave S. in Golden Valley.
