Dorothy J. Hughes

Dorothy J. Hughes, age 77 of Corcoran, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2023. She was born December 10, 1945, in Watertown, Minnesota to Ralph and Rita Schneider. Dorothy grew up in Loretto, Minnesota and graduated from St. Michael High School. She spent 35 years working for Farm Bureau Federation. Dorothy loved starting each day with her husband enjoying the birds and chipmunks from their patio. She was an all-around lover of animals. Her five grandchildren were truly the lights of her life, and she loved attending all their various school activities. Baking with them and just simply spending time with them were some of her happiest moments. Dorothy also looked forward each week to spending time with good friends in fellowship. She really was the best wife and mother anyone could ever hope for.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Paul Hughes; daughters Nicole Berendes (Michael), and Gina DeBoer (Joseph); grandchildren Tyler, Maggie, Hannah, Grace, and Ellie; siblings  James Schneider, Richard (MaryAnn) Schneider, Helen Gunderson, Catherine (Dave) Christian, Raymond (Babie) Schneider, and Corinne Glassing; and many other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rita Schneider, and her sibling, Sister Rita Marie Schneider, SSND.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N, Plymouth. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, and a luncheon will follow at service’s end. Interment will be on a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Robbinsdale Women’s Center. Our deepest thanks to our family, friends, and neighbors for all your support during this difficult time.
