Dorraine (Dory) Frances Czech

Age 89 and long-time resident of Golden Valley, Minnesota passed away on July 2, 2024.

Dorraine (Dory) was born October 10, 1934. She lived 89 years as an angel on Earth and transitioned to an angel in Heaven on July 2, 2024. Dory is survived by 6 children: Frank (Kellee), Kathy, Marie, Therese (Kent), Paul (Kathleen), and Barb (Brian); 12 grandchildren, her perfect dozen: Cole, Callie (Lukas), Logan (Katie), Uma, Mike, Jenny (James), Micah (Chelsea), Tiara (Cory), Rachel, Jared, Ed (Alannah), and Nate; 15 great-grandchildren: Izabelle (Delaney), Anthony, Liam, Louis, Josie, Leah, Carter, Trey, Esme, Jason, Simon, Anya, Mila, Maya, and Milena. Dory was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Elmer Czech, who cherished his “Sug” and is surely dancing with her in Heaven. Dory was also preceded in death by her parents Ignatius and Hedwig Namyst, all 9 of her siblings, and many more beautiful relatives and friends.

Dory was born and raised as the youngest of 10 children on a farm in Holdingford, Minnesota. She met Elmer Czech, the love of her life, at a dance in Rice, MN. Dory and Elmer married on June 15, 1953, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Dory’s many talents included: playing the piano by ear, speaking three languages, and working magically with children with physical and mental disabilities. Dory’s greatest gift was creating and spreading love. Whether Dory knew someone for only a few minutes or for a lifetime, she greeted everyone with an enormous smile and unconditional love. Dory enjoyed camping, dancing with Elmer, attending St. John’s football games, attending Minnesota Gopher baseball games, attending the Men’s College World Series, Tweety Bird, socializing, her faith in God, and her family. Dory was most proud of her roles as Mom and Granny. Mom/Granny endlessly welcomed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren into her home filled with kindness, optimism, joy, compassion, love, and pancakes. Dory was known for saying, “I love you more than you love me” and drawing a cute little smiley picture of herself and Elmer whenever she signed a card or letter (a photo of Dorraine's drawing can be seen at the top of the obituary).
