Dorthy (Dodie) M. Sprout

Dorthy (Dodie) Sprout peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by family after a battle with pancreatic cancer on March 7, 2026.

Dodie was born on Nov 27, 1947, in New London, WI. She grew up in the surrounding area and graduated from high school in 1966. A few years later, at the age of 22, she moved to Minnesota. It was in Minnesota that she joined a ski club and met her future husband, Dale. Dodie and Dale loved to ski so much that in 1973 they packed their bags and moved to Colorado. It was in Colorado that they officially married on July 31, 1977. After 8 years enjoying the mountains of Colorado, they returned home to be closer to family.

Dodie and Dale bought a house in New Hope, MN in 1981 where both David and Beckie were born. Five years later they moved to Plymouth, MN where they have lived ever since. Dodie worked as a mortgage closer in Colorado and after moving to Minnesota she found her next career as a daycare provider. She loved the many (hundreds) children who came through her house for the next 28 years and enjoyed keeping track of them throughout the years.

Dodie will be remembered as a loving and caring mom, wife, sister, and friend, who was a tireless worker (she always stepped up to help when needed). She was a great baker, making many wedding and birthday cakes for others that both looked and tasted amazing. Additionally, she made delicious rhubarb pies in the spring and peach and apple pies throughout the year.

Dodie was preceded in death by her father Harold Spiegelberg, mother Lucille Fredenberg, brother Raymond (and wife Marilyn) Spiegelberg, and brother-in law James Schlack.

Dodie is survived by her husband Dale Sprout, sisters Marilyn Lienhard and Veronica Schlack, brother Gary Spiegelberg, son David Sprout, daughter Beckie (Greg) Lifferth, granddaughters Sidse Sprout (16), Kinzlie Lifferth (15), Addie Lifferth (12), June Sprout (10), Melodee Lifferth (9), Hannah Sprout (7) and grandson Matthew Sprout (13).

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Friday, March 27th at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N (@ Vicksburg Lane).

Funeral Service will be 11 AM Saturday, March 28th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2801 Douglas Ave N, Crystal, MN 55422, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
