Mead, Elaine Rose Martin,

born May 22, 1926 in Albertville, MN died January 31, 2022, Wayzata, MN. Preceded in death by parents Alfred and Flora Martin; siblings Emery, Richard, Sylvia, Cyril, Adeline, Odell, Maudeste, Camille, Marcella, Willard, and Rose. Survived by daughter Natalie Rose Mead and siblings Earl and Edmond. Married to Robert C. Mead for 28 years. Robert died in 2002.

Elaine graduated from Tracy High School in Tracy, MN in 1944; graduated from the Estelle Compton Modeling School in Minneapolis; attended St. Catherine's weekend college in St. Paul for two years.

She enjoyed a 60-year career in business. A highlight was owning and operating Martin Career Counseling and Finishing School in Rochester, MN. Her company trained fashion models, served as an employment agency, and conducted many fashion shows for local retailers at the Kohler Hotel. After marrying and moving to Minneapolis, Elaine worked as the executive secretary to the president of the Minnesota Valley Natural Gas Company.

Her volunteer work included serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 7 years, serving as a 5th grade classroom aide at the Anderson Elementary School in South Minneapolis, singing with the Plymouth Rockers Senior Chorus for 19 years, performing with the tao dance groups The Satin Dolls and the Time Stoppers for 8 years, and teaching tap classes at the Lenox Community Center in Saint Louis Park for 3 years.

Her travels took her to New Zealand and Australia in 1983 and to Japan in 1987 with the Friendship Force. The trips forged long-lasting friendships. She visited  Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia in 1990, and traveled to England in 1993.

Elaine was a long time parishioner of  St Bartholomew Catholic Church of Wayzata. She will be laid to rest in a private burial at cemetery of the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Elk River, MN. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to Interfaith Outreach (iocp.org) or St. Bart's
