Elizabeth Elva “Bette” Pater (née Kovacs) was born on Mother’s Day - May 11, 1930, and peacefully passed into the arms of our Lord on April 18, 2023, with family by her side.  The daughter of a proud Hungarian immigrant family, she grew up in New Jersey, and lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Minnesota over her lifetime.  In 1948, she married the love of her life, Kalman Pater, Jr., and together they raised a loving family.  Her perseverance in the face of adversity throughout her life, and her ever-present faith, provided a guiding light to all who knew her, especially her family.  She is greatly missed.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Elizabeth Kovacs (née Custer), husband Kalman, and brother Gustav Kovacs, Jr.  She is survived by children, Patricia (Richard) Green, Keith (Mary Rita) Pater, Eric Pater (Christy) and Rev. LisaMarie (Craig) Doerrmann; grandchildren, James Kreitz, Jamie Lynn Pater, Ashley Johnson (Connor), Nicole DeWeese (Michael), Jonathan and Caitlin Doerrmann; two great-grandsons; brother Ronald (Ethel) Kovacs; sister-in-law, Dell Kovacs; nieces, Linda, Ethel, Jane, Wendy, and Sharon; nephew, Brian.
