Emily Anna Herringshaw

Emily Anna Herringshaw, 35, moved to her heavenly home on April 7th, 2023 after a long battle with mental health.

Emily was born on August 6th, 1987 in Ontario, Canada to Mark and Jill Herringshaw. Emily had a profound ability to make the world a more beautiful place through her art and creativity. From the time she was a young child, whether it was in her classical ballet studies, visual art or at home playing dress-up, Emily was a true artist in every sense of the word. Her creativity and sensitivity were shown throughout her life and to everyone who knew her.

As a child, Emily was a master at pretend play. Elaborate plotlines, costumes, and backstories would emerge throughout the mundane moments of life; Emily would be lost in her own world and encourage anyone standing by to join her in her creations.

In highschool, Emily’s artistic abilities naturally transitioned to musical theater. At seventeen, Emily joined Youth With A Mission in New York and toured the country performing a show displaying the gospel for Highschool students. Emily went on to graduate from the University of Northwestern in 2010 with a degree in theater and dance. Musical theater stages throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul witnessed Emily’s “triple threat” ability (singing, acting and dancing) including those of the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, Artistry and The Ordway.

Although the last decade of Emily’s life were full of hardship, those who knew and loved Emily will choose to remember her in the way she was created by God - joyful, imaginative, effervescent, charismatic and full of life.

Emily was predeceased by her grandparents Howard Herringshaw, and Alvin and Verlie Miller.

Emily is survived by parents Mark and Jill Herringshaw, sister Ellie (Austin Collins), brothers Matt (Alexa) and Michael (Jenna), biological children Ava and Aria, adopted by Michael and Jenna, seven nieces, her grandmother Joyce Herringshaw,  as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins who loved, supported and prayed for Emily throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Dorothy Day Center.

Memorial service is Friday, April 14th at Noon. Visitation at 11am at the Church of St. Paul, 1740 Bunker Lake Blvd NE, Ham Lake, MN 55304.
