Ethel "Sandy" Gustafson

Our dear mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt Ethel (Sandy) Gustafson went to heaven to rejoin our dad, her son and son-in-law on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

She was born to Helge and Hilda Sandell on May 30, 1929. She was the youngest of 5 kids. She grew up in Webster, SD, a farming community. At few of her fondest memories were how efficient she was at milking the cows, and how straight her lines were in the fields. She moved to Minneapolis after graduating from high school. She worked as a private secretary. In 1954 she met the love of her life, John. They met on a blind date. They later married. Together they had three children (Jackie, Bob and Mike). Sandy loved to do crafts, enter her baked goods at the state fair, and enjoyed every minute she had with her family.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, sisters and brothers, son, Michael; and son in- law Ron Koval.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Koval and Robert Gustafson; grandson, Bryant (Jackie) Koval; granddaughter, Jessica Greenwood; and four beautiful great- grandsons, Trenton, Logan, Preston and Parker.

She will be greatly missed, as she was a bright star in our lives.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:30am with a visitation starting at 11am the Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis 55408.
