Listen to Obituary

Farris Oscar Cagle, 84, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Dalton, Farris was the third of four children. He spent his formative years in military school, an experience that helped shape his character and instilled a strong sense of responsibility that stayed with him throughout his life.

Farris built a successful career in the carpet industry, where he earned the respect of colleagues and friends through his integrity, dedication, and strong work ethic. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years and never truly wanted to retire.

In his free time, Farris loved golfing and spent many enjoyable hours on the course, appreciating both the game and the friendships that came with it.

Above all, Farris was a devoted father to his three daughters, who were the center of his world. He never missed an opportunity to support, encourage, and celebrate them. His joy only grew with the arrival of his grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called him “Papa.” He cherished each one deeply. Whether attending sporting events, traveling together, spending time at the cabin, or simply enjoying a Sunday evening cookout, Farris created memories his family will treasure forever.

Farris also had a special love for animals and showed kindness and compassion to every creature he met. He adored his “grand-pups” and was known for buying them toys and slipping them extra treats whenever he had the chance.

Farris will be remembered for his generous heart, steady presence, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Farris Sr. and Lillian Cagle, and his sisters, Patsy Mauldin, Bobby Cagle, and Gail Cagle.

He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Daren) Stundahl, Kimberly (Shawn) Holzschuh, and Sarah (James) Bohnenstingel; and by his twelve beloved grandchildren: Ashley Stundahl, Isabel Holzschuh, Trevor Stundahl, Haley Holzschuh, John Bohnenstingel, Bennett Holzschuh, Andrew Bohnenstingel, Matthew Bohnenstingel, Emilia Bohnenstingel, Samuel Bohnenstingel, Ethan Bohnenstingel, and Finndley Bohnenstingel.
