St Louis Park - Gerald (Tip) E Lausen died peacefully in the early hours of January 25, 2026. Tip was born on July 5, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in the death by his mother, Gertrude and his five brothers and 1 sister, Jim (Evie), Jack (Shirley, living), Marge, Butch (Bev, living), Russ (Bonnie) and Tom (Marge, living). Also, preceded by brother-in-law, Robert Gronau (Bob). He is survived by his "bride" of 64 ½ years, Judy, his daughters Patti (Mark) Friske and Beth Lausen. Also, survived by his beloved grandchildren, Isabel and Ian Friske. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, especially fond of great nephew Nick Moore and his family.

He graduated from Minneapolis Vocational in 1955 and had a long career in the printing industry. He also worked at the Methodist Hospital parking lot for 9 years and then finally retired at 72. He volunteered many years at Methodist Hospital and at the 3900 clinic after COVID. He was proud to have put in 4500 hours in total. He also volunteered at STEP, Hopkins Stages Theatre and his churches over the years.

A big part of Tip's life was spent as a boy scout. He joined the boy scouts in 1949 and made longtime friends who mentored him throughout life. His favorite place to be besides with his family, was at Many Point Boy Scout Camp. He was on staff up there in northern MN in 1954 & 1955. He worked the trading post, selling candy to the campers and distributing groceries. When Tip got older he went to Many Point every June for work party with his daughters and his grandson, Ian. Some years we went to the alumni weekend at the end of the summer and he thought that was the best time of his life. Beth and Tip would go every year to the Spring Fling for Many Point Alumni and Tip loved telling his Many Point stories to everyone. Throughout his life he was involved with Troop 39, where as a family we would participate in carnivals and visiting nursing homes to bring joy. In the later years, he would still go to the scouting office once a month to do volunteer projects.

Tip loved to help people and he loved tinkering in his workshop. He made craft items and did woodworking with Judy, his daughters and his grandchildren. He was one of the "good" guys and he made friends where ever he went and with whomever would listen to his many stories. His kindness, humor and acceptance of everyone was what made him so loved.
