James W. Franklin

Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 8, 1932 and passed away at home in Plymouth, Minnesota, September 6, 2023 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan and their beloved daughter Peggy. He is survived by his sons, Larry (Jill) and Jim (Connie); grandchildren, Bryan (Laura), Nick, Jon (Erin), Katie (Casey) and great-grandchildren, Maggie, Danny and Marley.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School and enlisted in the Navy for the next 4 years, serving in the Korean War. After leaving the service he worked at Process Displays at night and went to school during the day at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business. After spending the next 54 years with Process Displays, retiring from there as Vice President, he helped start Franklin Press. He was a hard worker who didn't believe in hiring it out… buy the tool and fix it yourself! There will be a lot of years with comments like "you know what Dad would do". The big laugh and smile will be deeply missed by family and friends, along with his infamous one liners like "My way or the highway".

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 3rd, with a service at 5:00 PM at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. North, Plymouth, MN.  A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Wednesday, October 4th.

Memorials may be directed to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, MBC-FOU, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
