James (Jim) Lavon Shrack, age 92, of Loretto, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, April 24th, 2026, at Methodist Hospital. He was born in Redkey, Indiana, on December 16th, 1933, to William and Ruth Shrack.

Jim earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Purdue University and began his career with Cargill Incorporated. He married Gaye Ann Cheek on February 15th, 1959. During his career, Jim designed grain elevators throughout the world. He retired from Cargill in 1988 and built a home in Loretto. In retirement, he dedicated much of his time to volunteering and helping others, particularly with construction projects.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gaye Ann Shrack; his brother, William (Boo) Shrack of Rockbridge Bath, Virginia; his cousin, Norma Jean Miller of Crawfordsville Indiana; and his children: Drew (Donna) Shrack; Brian (DeAnne) Shrack; Kymberly Shrack; and Valerie (Lee) LaMere. He is also survived by five grandchildren: James Robert (Sabrina) Shrack; Jeffery (Amanda) Shrack; Kelly (Nate) Nipper; Luke LaMere; and Mandaly (Brandon) Emanuelson; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Curts; and his brothers, Harvey and Bernard Shrack, all of Indiana.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Messiah Methodist Church in Plymouth, Minnesota, on June 6th, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gearty–Delmore Funeral Chapel of Plymouth, Minnesota.
