Listen to Obituary

Janet Eileen Youngdahl, 88, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Born on July 25, 1937, in Minneapolis to Henry and Mary Petzke, Jan lived a life defined by independence, humor, and quiet strength.

She enjoyed a long and successful career as an executive secretary with Lifetouch. Beyond her work, Jan found joy in simple pleasures shared with close friends: bowling, bingo, and long walks through the Mall of America. She had a special love for flowers, especially lavender ones. Amongst family, Jan would often tease herself for being frugal, but she also always seemed to have the latest iPhone, and her enjoyment of fun, new cars was a poorly-kept secret.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Petzke; her sister, Donna McGraw; and her former husband, Lowell Youngdahl. She is survived by her nephew Tom McGraw, his wife Lauren Cosgrove, and their children, Mirabelle and Maddox, whom she adored. To them, she was lovingly known as "Granty Jan."

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, at Bachman's Floral (Heritage Room), 6010 Lyndale Avenue South in Minneapolis. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories of Jan's life.
