Janice Eileen Pedersen-Swanstrom, age 85, of Maple Grove, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2025.
She grew up in Robbinsdale, MN, where she loved the joy of experiencing high school activities, especially the sock hops. Throughout her life, she carried a spark of fun and creativity into every adventure that came her way.
She was an artist at heart, with a talent for crochet and a true gift for decorating. Every holiday, birthday, and gathering became special under her touch—whether it was a perfectly set table or a home glowing with warmth and style. She also pursued her entrepreneurial spirit, running her own Mary Kay business and later founding Dimensions Interiors, an interior design business that reflected her eye for beauty and detail.
Early on, her career in the medical field gave her the opportunity to share her compassion with others. Patients and strangers alike were welcomed with her kind smile, her gentle heart, and her gift for making people feel cared for.
She loved the little joys of life: nail polish and lipstick were her go-to essentials, a reflection of her vibrant spirit. She cherished time at the cabin, the sparkle of Christmas, and the laughter of a blended family gathered together.
More than anything, she had a natural way of making spaces—and people—more beautiful just by being present. Her creativity, warmth, and joy for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Helen Graham; and her in-laws, Roger and Betty Swanstrom. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dave Swanstrom; her children, Kim and Pat Kane, Kris and Keith Castonguay, and stepchildren, Mike and Kristen Swanstrom, Mary Swanstrom; sisters, Linda Miller, Mary and Guy Palmer; grandchildren, Joe and Sarah Kane, Lindsey Kane, Ryan and Mindy Kane, Eric Castonguay, Nicole and Jack Hogan, Alexa Castonguay, Jaime and Victor Oshiomah, Ellie Castonguay, Matt Swanstrom, Luke Swanstrom; and great-grandchildren, Liam Kane, Jack Kane, Emmy Kane, Tommy Kane, Remy Hogan, Reaney Hogan; along with countless friends and other family members who were touched by her kindness. Special thank you to Havenwood of Maple Grove staff and Brighton Hospice care team.
A celebration of her life will be held at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in Plymouth, MN on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm; with a short service beginning at 7:00pm.
Her memorial service will be held at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, Memorials preferred.
In honor of her legacy of creativity and beauty, the family invites those attending to wear something colorful or uplifting that reflects her joyful spirit.
