Jean Mary Starmack

Jean Mary Starmack - age 95 passed away on September 14th, 2026. Jean grew up in South Minneapolis with younger siblings, Patricia (Ammerman) and John Moran. After graduating from Central High School, Jean began working as a secretary at Emmer Bros. Lumber Company - later acquired by Viking Forest Products. Recognized for her strong work ethic, efficiency, and continued growth of her knowledge in the industry, Jean was promoted to Controller and stayed with the company for 40+ years, retiring at age 70. Outside of work, Jean was known for being active, social, and generous. She had a love of travel which started in her 20's when she and good friend, Marilyn, traveled across Europe. Throughout the years, her adventures around the globe continued - Australia, China, Turkey, the Caribbean and more. 

Jean met her husband, Bill, at Dominics, a Catholic young adult group. She always said they were a perfect match because she could make the plans and he'd happily go along. In addition to joining in her travels, he was a great co-host as she would plan her parties and social engagements. Penny ante poker, study club, holiday parties, Whiz Bang picnics, family reunions and too many Bridge clubs to count, she'd look for any excuse to get together.

Bill and Jean had two daughters - Kathy and Colleen whom they loved and supported unconditionally. As her family grew with the addition of son-in-laws Tim Jacobs and Bob Eggerichs and then 5 grandchildren, Paige, Jenna, Aaron, Angie, and Danny, she proudly embraced the role of Nana. Babysitting, cheering from the bleachers, Breezy Point adventures, car rides to school, and Sunday dinners, there was nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren. In the last few years, she became "Great Nana" and enjoyed being entertained by great grandchildren Blaire (4) and Callan (3) Eggerichs. 

Jean's generosity extended beyond her family, giving of her time and talent to a variety of Sacred Heart events, and even delivered Meals on Wheels well into her 80's. Community was important to her as she spent 60+ years on Lake Curve in Robbinsdale. After Bill passed away in 2010, Jean was surrounded by the best neighbors who offered so much help and support. She was truly thankful. 

Jean was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill), parents John and Mary Moran, sister Patricia Ammerman and brother John Moran. Jean is survived by daughters, Kathy (Tim) Jacobs and Colleen (Bob) Eggerichs; grandchildren Paige and Jenna Jacobs, Aaron (Jensen), Angie, and Danny (Krystin) Eggerichs; great grandchildren Blaire and Callan Eggerichs, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her adventurous spirit, generosity, and fun-loving personality will be greatly missed.

Jean's funeral will be held at Sacred Heart in Robbinsdale at 10 am with a lunch to follow. Visitation one hour prior from 9-10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials referred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
