Jennifer passed away on February 4th surrounded by her family after a 6-month battle with stage IV stomach cancer. Her cancer didn’t define her. She attacked her battle with the same characteristics she lived her life.
Jennifer was born on February 17th, 1982, the youngest child of Dwaine and Kathy. Jennifer had the most beautiful smile and twinkle in her eye that could light your soul.
Anyone who knew Jennifer was touched by her kindness, compassion, and strong temperament. From the time she was a little girl she was known as being “strong-willed and sassy”, to say the least. Her confidence, independence, and determination were qualities she carried her entire life.
Jennifer graduated from Totino-Grace in 2000. She excelled as a student and participated in various extracurricular activities including the dance team, track and field, tennis, theatre, and the hockey team manager. She met Spencer at TG, her husband of almost 15 years. Spencer taught her the game of football which she grew to love.
Jennifer then graduated cum laude from Minnesota State, Mankato with Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management in 2004. After graduation, she started her career at Gander Mountain as a Merchandise Planner. She found her place at Land O’Lakes where she worked for almost 15 years as a Customer Logistics Manager (or her siblings would say “a Butter Analyst”). She was an extremely committed employee who enjoyed her job, but mostly loved her team and colleagues. She was always excited for work events like book club and happy hours.
Jennifer and Spencer moved to Plymouth in 2008 (recently Maple Grove) to raise their family and fell in the love with the community. She dedicated herself to family time and the kids’ activities. She was a devoted wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Jennifer was meant to be a mom. She loved Spencer and her family and absolutely adored her children – Riley, Henry, and Rachel. And we can’t forget about her dogs. She embraced every moment with her family. If you were lucky enough to be present when she watched them or talked about them, you could see the pure joy radiating from her.
At a young age she developed a love for the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, boating (or anything on the water), skiing, camping or just sitting by the fire with her family and friends laughing and telling stories. Jennifer had the greatest sense of humor.
She treasured her time spent gardening, baking, and traveling with her mom (especially NYC at Christmastime). Most of her hunting/fishing experiences were with the family, in particular her dad. These trips consisted of thousands of games of cribbage. The relationship she had with her siblings Ryen, Aaron, and Kirsten were as close as it gets. They loved spending time at the cabin, hunting and fishing, and just hanging out with their families. Her relationship with her sister, Kirsten, was unmatched – they did anything and everything together as best friends do.
Her friendships meant the world to her. She stayed tight knit with family friends, high school and college friends, and neighborhood friends. She loved her annual trips and dinners with her ‘Mankato girls.’
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but forever in our hearts.
