Jerry M. Parker

Jerry Michael Parker, age 75, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2023, at North Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn; his son, Brian; his sister Cheryl Colford (John); brother-in-law Don Horvath (Joan); and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Parker, and his parents Laura and James Parker.

Jerry grew up in North Minneapolis and Crystal and graduated from Cooper High School in Robbinsdale.  Jerry spent most of his working career at ID Services in New Hope, after which he enjoyed 12 years of retirement.  Over the years, Jerry’s hobbies included bowling, woodworking, and metal detecting.  He also loved collecting things, including all types of sports cards, clocks, Scripto and Zippo lighters, antique fishing lures, old bottles, and most recently pocket knives.  Jerry was somewhat of a homebody who loved to shop online, always looking forward to the multiple packages that were delivered weekly (often daily).

Jerry will be remembered for his love of fishing and the outdoors.  As a child, he enjoyed summers at their family cabin on Bass Lake north of Brainerd, and later in life, he enjoyed time at his lake home on Boy Lake in Northern Minnesota.   Jerry also loved the many dogs he owned over the years - our current dog Finley seems lost without him!

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, August 28 at 11:00 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 7217 W. Broadway, Brooklyn Park. Visitation 1 hour prior at the church.  A private interment will be held at a later date at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal, MN.
