Joan Marie Byrne (Gerber), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 87, in the care of loving family in her home.
Born on October 13, 1938, in Minneapolis, to Al and Julia Gerber. She grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and graduated from Vocational High School where she completed her stenography training.
Joan was a devout Catholic, her faith guided her life. On February 13, 1959, she married Joe Byrne. Over the next 66 years they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised four children, who will forever be grateful for her love and support.

When she returned to the company, her dedication, work ethic, and leadership were quickly recognized. She rose through the ranks, earning the respect of everyone who worked with her no matter the task at hand.
After retirement from Eberhardt, Joan and Joe took pleasure in traveling to new places. Eventually spending many peaceful years in Sun City West, Arizona, enjoying time with friends and family. Joan especially loved her winter retreats there, returning each year for sunshine, community, and the friendships she cherished.
Joan lived with kindness, steadiness, and a quiet strength that touched everyone around her. She had a warm smile and a gentle presence that made people feel welcome. She loved playing cards and spending time with family around the table, sharing laughter and simple moments. She also enjoyed reading Harlequin romance novels, finding comfort and joy in the stories she read. Joan had a passion for cheering her grandchildren and great grandchildren on in sports and activities. Joan would never miss a game whether it be in person or from the comfort of her home. She was always there.
Joan's legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren - each one a reflection of the love she gave so freely. Her spirit will continue to shine through them, in their laughter, their kindness, and the way they love one another.
