Joe's Obituary

Joseph (Joe) Paul Durant, born February 16, 1961, to LeRoy (Joe) and Irene Durant.  Along with his brother and four sisters, he was raised in Crystal, Minnesota. Joe graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1979.

After high school Joe attended Dunwoody College of Technology and earned a certificate in Sheet Metal work.  After graduation, Joe worked in the sheet metal industry for Seele Craftsmen and Anderson Dahlen before co-founding Millennium Metals.

Joe raised his two sons (Joseph and Nick) along with many loyal Springer Spaniels, including his most recent loyal companion, Kirby, who was always by Joe’s side. Joe and his sons lived in Ham Lake, MN before he moved to Cedar, MN.

In his younger years, Joe played youth baseball and was a member of many softball teams. In recent years, he volunteered at the local food shelf, and he loved to spend time with his granddaughter Ella.  Joe’s other hobbies included fishing, hunting, model cars and model boats. Joe was always willing to lend a helping hand to whatever was needed.

Joe’s family would like to send our heartfelt thanks to all of Joe’s many friends for their support, especially Joe’s long-time friend Shannon for her companionship and support as Joe faced increasing challenges with his health.

Joe passed away July 19, 2023, at the age of 62. Joe was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy (Joe) and Irene.  He is survived by his sons Joseph (wife Abigail) and Nicolas; granddaughter Ella; his siblings Charles (Emily), Jeannine (Barry), Sue (John), Lisa (Scott) and Leslie (Chuck); many nieces and nephews; countless friends; and his loyal dog Kirby. A memorial will be on August 16th from 5:00-8:00, with memory sharing at 7:00 PM at Gearty-Delmore in Plymouth, MN.

Joe will forever be known for his heart of gold and for his love of hunting and fishing. We miss you, Joe!! Rest in Peace!

Memorial donations will be made to NACE Food Shelf of East Bethel where Joe was a volunteer driver.
