was born August 7, 1933, in Litchfield, MN to Martin Dennis and Martha Elizabeth Ryan. He attended Litchfield High School where he made lifelong friends. He then attended the College of St. Thomas before attending Dental School at Marquette University. Upon graduating, he moved to Hankinson, ND to start his first dental practice. While living in Hankinson, he met his wife Ann on New Year’s Eve at the Indianhead Ski Resort. He commuted back and forth to Minneapolis until they were married 10 months later. The Ryan’s moved to Plymouth where Doc Ryan practiced for the next 30 years. John was an active member of the Wayzata Lions Club and the St. Bartholomew’s choir. He loved to play golf and achieved every golfer’s dream of a Hole in One. John is survived by his daughter Julie, son Dennis, and grandchildren Hugh, Frances, and Meg. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann and granddaughter Evelyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 5 at 11 AM at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, 630 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata, MN 55391 with visitation beginning at 10 AM and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Bartholomew School
