John Clark Patten

A resident of Robbinsdale, MN, John passed away on October 8, 2024 at the age of 84. John grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Townsend, and they remained in Des Moines for many years.

Professionally, John became a nationally known roofing consultant. His work took him to many places across the country.

John had an adventurous spirit. He loved racing cars in the SCCA. He also raced sailboats competitively on Lake Rathbun. When he wasn't racing sailboats, he enjoyed sailing recreationally. His family was always a part of these adventures. One of their fondest memories was a trip taken in a VW bus from Iowa to backpack in the Colorado mountains. Later in life John obtained his pilot's license and enjoyed piloting his plane around the country to visit family.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Babcock, (Tom), and son John Scott Patten (Suzan); his brother, Dr. Michael Patten (Lynda), and his nephews Michael and Bill Patten and their families. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Patten, and granddaughter Alexandra Babcock.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Copperfield Hill on Friday, October 18th from 3 to 5pm. 4200 4th Avenue North, Robbinsdale MN, 55422

John will be laid to rest at a later date beside his wife Sharon, in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Unity Church of Minneapolis or the Alzheimer's Association
