Jon LaVasseur was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 16, 1944 and God lovingly and graciously welcomed him to his heavenly eternal home on February 8, 2026 at the age of 81. He was a builder who invested in things he loved most - family, relationships, house, church, airplanes, Corvettes and model railroad. Jon graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1962 and served in the Naval Air Reserve from 1965 to 1968. He married the love of his life, Kathleen Davey, in 1966 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 29, 2026. Jon worked in the family business selling supplies to building contractors, became a distributor of dairy barn whitewash and owned his own tree stump removal business. Jon served many years as an officer at Parker's Lake Baptist Church and was the longest attending member of the church since joining the congregation in 1969. He was an usher, went on trips with the youth group and was always ready to help wherever and whenever he was needed. Jon loved flying and built his own ultralight airplane and owned two other private planes. Jon enjoyed being and working at the family cabin on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor, Minnesota. He always loved the southwest and spent thirteen winters with Kathy in Tucson, Arizona. 

Jon is survived by his wife, Kathleen, two sons - Cory (Leah) and Brent (Stephenie), six grandchildren - Sophrona (Felix), Luke (Katherine), Marissa, Micah and Allison and five great-grandchildren - Samuel, Addison, Reuben, Gilbert and Amelia. He is also survived by his brother, Gary and many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. We are all grateful for Jon's wit, wisdom and generous spirit he shared with us. He was truly a gift from the Lord and he will be deeply missed. 

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases and His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 

Jon's memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 26th at Parker's Lake Baptist Church located at 14720 County Road 6 in Plymouth, Minnesota. Visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Memorial service at 1:00 PM. Refreshments and fellowship to follow.
