Judith Ann Nielsen Adams passed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 amidst family members at TowerLight senior living facility in Saint Louis Park, MN.

Judy was born Dec. 3, 1941 of parents Virgil William Nielsen and Genevieve Agnes Damm Nielsen at St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo, IA. She graduated from Cedar Falls, IA high school in June, 1959 and received her BS in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA in June, 1963. She married Ronald D. Adams August 25, 1962 at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Cedar Falls, IA.

She began her career as a librarian, working successively for the Kansas City, MO. public library system, the Dun & Bradstreet Business Library in New York, NY, and the Hennepin County Library system as a Children’s Librarian. In that capacity she worked in Mound, MN., Golden Valley, MN., and Saint Louis Park, MN; retiring in 2004.

Judy and Ron entertained visitors from around the world in their home in Mound, MN. They later moved to Saint Louis Park, MN. She and her husband always enjoyed camping and travel by themselves and with their children all over the U.S. and Canada, later with grandchildren as well, and also traveled in Mexico, Japan, Wales, England and a European cruise on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers with sightseeing in places of interest along the way. She was an avid reader, especially of mysteries and loved Harry Potter and books by Janet Evanovich.

In 2016 Judy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She continued to enjoy travel for several years, and always impressed others with her sunny disposition, Upon the advice of her doctor, in the Spring of 2024 she moved into memory care.

She is very much missed by her husband, Ron; her daughter, Jaime Adams and son-in-law, David McLaughlin of Des Moines, IA; her son, Steven Adams of Minneapolis and daughter-in-law Nancy Wright of Minneapolis; and her granddaughters, Naomi and Erin Adams of Des Moines and Akira Adams of Minneapolis.

She was predeceased by her parents, her grandson, David McLaughlin and her beloved brother, Kenneth Nielsen.

Please join us in celebrating Judy at a visitation Sunday, June 29th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Avenue South. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Avenue South.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Planned Parenthood or Minnesota Public Television.
