The doors to a live stream of Kathie's Mass will open ten minutes prior to Mass time.
Katherine (Kathie) M. Cichanski, age 77, of Brooklyn Park died on May 3, 2025, surrounded by family and helped by prayer. Born August 16, 1947, to Mabel and Harry Carlson in Minneapolis, she graduated from Spring Lake Park High School and met the love of her life as a teenager.
At the tender age of 15, she began dating Roger Cichanski at the Minnesota State Fair and together they cruised Lake Street in the many shiny, stylish cars that made us all look twice. She was easily loved by Roger’s family and taken in as a daughter by his parents. They married on July 10, 1965, and were looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage this summer. Starting out with little financial means, they worked hard, bought their first home together in Fridley, and then soon built a home in the northern suburbs, in the city of East Bethel.
Together they had two children, Wendy and Wayne, raising them with a backyard pond to ice skate, a neighborhood of kids to play with and host Christmas caroling parties for, and weekends at the lake to camp, boat, swim, and relax around the bonfire. Kathie was the very best kind of mom—always present, playing with her children, showing up at their activities, making sure holidays and birthdays were memorable and that the first days of school were marked with special outfits and home baked cookies.
Kathie spent her career in the grocery industry, working her way up to a customer service manager, and was a valued and trusted employee. She took immense pleasure in the company of her dogs, as well as her flower gardens, wild birds, and spending time with friends and cousins. Becoming a grandma and doling out love to her grandchildren was what she treasured. Anyone talking to Kathie would come away feeling her positive energy, joy, and easy laughter.
She will be forever missed by her beloved husband of 60 years, Roger; their children Wendy (Ben) Cichanski Caduff and Wayne (Deana) Cichanski; grandchildren Jordan Lindahl, Emily (Rickey) Cichanski, Erin Cichanski, Augustin Caduff, and Grace Caduff; sisters-in-law, Mary (Dave) Berger, Babs (Dave) Waldal, and Ann Carlson; brother-in-law, Rick (Shari) Moen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kristi Cichanski; her parents, Mabel and Harry Carlson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reuben and Berthina Moen; her brothers, Dick (Carole) Carlson, Jim Carlson, and Jerry Carlson; and sister-in-law, Marlys Cichanski Chester.
