Kathleen "Kate" H. Nelson passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 27, 2024, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Ralph; her parents, Helen (O’Brien) and Fred Siede; her sister, Mary Jane Wood; and her brother, Robert Siede.

She is survived by her eight children: Wayne (Laura), Dennis (Barbara Franta), Timothy (Colleen), Linda Tarpey (Jim), Susan Nelson Boser (Randy), Deborah Rakos (Tony), Gloria Nordstrom (Russ), and Thomas. Kate also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 9, at The Parish Community of St. Joseph Parish Center, located at 8701 36th Ave. N., New Hope. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Kate was born on October 26, 1934, and graduated from St. Margaret's Academy in 1952. A devoted Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Austin Catholic Church for 34 years and later, St. Joseph Catholic Church for 33 years.

Kate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who raised eight children and worked for 20 years at Cargill. Despite her busy life, she found joy in her hobbies, including playing cards (cribbage, Texas Hold’em, and euchre), solving jigsaw puzzles, and crafting intricate cross-stitch art pieces.

As an avid Minnesota sports fan, Kate rarely missed a Twins, Vikings, or Lynx game. For the past decade, she was a cherished member of the Trillium Woods community, where she built strong friendships and greatly admired the staff. Kate was a people person who loved gatherings, and she was especially thrilled to celebrate her 90th birthday this past October with family and friends.

The Nelson family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Trillium Woods, The Birches, Lifespark, and Synergy HomeCare, as well as her dear friend Tammy Miles, for their love and care.

Kate will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
