Kathryn “Kitty” Bania, age 94, of Maple Grove, passed away and into Heaven on April 7th, 2024. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Kathryn was loved beyond measure, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored her.
Born and raised in the Camden neighborhood of Minneapolis, Kathryn grew up the youngest of nine children. From an early age, she was surrounded by love and understood the meaning and importance of a strong family connection. While her life was not without its sorrows, Kathryn believed that suffering was God’s way of pruning her be what He wanted her to be, and so she chose to focus on the joy. Over the course of six decades, Kathryn and her beloved husband Donald welcomed five children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Kathryn understood that her calling was in the home and the Catholic Church, so she devoted her life to God as a pastoral minister at St. Joseph and to the mission of homemaking.
Kathryn's days were filled with love, laughter, and service to others. Simply through how she lived her life, she served as a shining example to the world of what it means to lead a well-lived life. Following Donald’s passing in 2007, Kathryn's faith in God, His promises, and His Church never wavered. Her commitment to her family and faith grew stronger, and she remained steadfast until her final breath.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Don (Mary) Bania, Susan (Jeff) Talerico, Patrick (Sherry) Bania, and Doug (Karina) Bania; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Percy, Daniel (Maleiha) Russell, Dominic (Gabrielle) Talerico, Justin Bania, Kyle Bania, Sienna Bania, and Olivia Bania; and great-grandchildren, Max Percy, Logan Percy, Hayden Russell, and Rowan Talerico. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her infant son James, her parents, and her eight siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at the Parish Community of St. Joseph, 8701 36th Ave N., in New Hope, with visitation beginning at 1 PM. A private interment will follow at Frt. Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorials in honor of Kathryn can be made to SilverCreek on Main or Joyful Companions.Tuesday, April 16, 2024
