Kenneth J. Zahn

On September 26, 2026, Kenneth “Ken” Zahn of St. Louis Park, MN, entered his heavenly home at the age of 86. Ken was the only child of Clara Zahn born on September 9, 1940. After his early years in North Dakota, Clara moved her and Ken to Minneapolis where he spent the rest of his life. They continued to visit the family homestead in Hague, ND every summer.

Ken attended Central High School where he met Jan. They married in 1961 and later had three children - Jeff, Kristi, and Kelly. Throughout their marriage, Ken and Jan were devoted to their family, creating traditions and memories that they passed down to their children and grandchildren. Some of their favorite memories together as a family were at the cabin on Cedar Lake in Annandale, MN.

After High School, Ken attended Minneapolis Business College where he studied accounting. Throughout his career he worked in credit and finance at Glenwood Hills Hospital, McQuay International and Smiths Medical (Deltec). After retiring from Deltec, he began volunteering for the Salvation Army where he spent 15 years on the emergency response team serving coffee and hotdogs to first responders. He also enjoyed volunteering for their annual toy drive.

Everyone who met Ken would say he was friendly and loved to talk, making friends everywhere he went. He was always willing to help others and was someone many people relied on. Ken was an active member of Vista Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and made many lifelong friends who were like family. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, wine nights with friends, Tuesday morning coffee at his condo, and visits to the MN Landscape Arboretum.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Jan, mother Clara, granddaughter, Brooke, and son-in-law Chris.

He is survived by his three children, Jeff (Merrilee), Kristi (Rob) and Kelly; his six grandchildren, Kalie, Emily (Alex), Anna (Maxon), Tyler (Ember), Nikki, and Ally; and three great-grandchildren Levi, Hayes and Noa.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Vista Lutheran Church, 4003 Wooddale Ave S, St. Louis Park, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
