Larry Knoblach, 90, of Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Julietta Knoblach; brothers Leroy, Harold (Rosie) and Raymond Knoblach, and brother-in-law Mel Koopmeiners.
He is survived by Nona (Kluempke) Knoblach, wife of 68 years; daughter Dede Boelter (Mark); son Dean Knoblach; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister Lucy Koopmeiners; sister-in-law Carol Knoblach.
Larry was born and raised on their family farm in New Munich. Upon high school graduation Larry enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was sent to Camp Pendleton for basic training. He then spent two years as a tank commander during the Korean War. He was part of the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division - “The First of the First.”
Once home Larry attended Dunwoody College of Technology, earning a degree in HVAC. He also took several additional courses in construction, which assisted in designing and building his dream home in 1969.
Larry initially worked on commercial buildings in Kansas City and Rapid City before moving to Crystal, where he joined Kleve Heating installing HVAC in residential homes. Later in life Larry joined Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors, once again working on commercial buildings. Most notably he helped install HVAC in the Mall of America.
Larry enjoyed playing the stock market and gambling (craps, blackjack and roulette). In addition, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and playing cards.
He also loved traveling with Nona, touring all of Western Europe, the British Isles, a Mediterranean cruise to Greece, Italy, Turkey and Morocco, and the Panama Canal. They also cruised with family to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and several road trips throughout the lower 48 states.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Thursday, January 22 at St. Joseph’s Parish Center, 8701 36th Ave N in New Hope. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass, with lunch following Mass. Interment of Ashes will be at Ft. Snelling Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to the National Eagle Center, 50 Pembroke Ave, Wabasha, MN 55981.
