Orono

Lawrence "Larry" Edward Gleason

Age 93 of Orono.  Beloved husband, father and grandfather died peacefully on January 22, 2023.  Survived by his wife of 63 ½ years, Rosemary, son Paul (spouse Lori), daughter Mary Catherine, grandchildren Connor (spouse Molly) and Fallon (partner Dante); and sisters Edna Mae Baker and Catherine Theisen.  Preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Edna Gleason, son Steven, sister Patricia Faue, and brothers Joseph Gleason and Emmett (Bud) Gleason.

Larry had many interests.  He loved flying with his own Piper Cub J-3 which he flew out of his father's farm.  He used to travel to several towns in Southern and Western Minnesota.  He liked steam-driven trains and machinery of all kinds.  He liked working on his own older cars, rebuilding the engines and other parts of the car that needed work. He was a big fan and user of diesel-powered cars and drove them to work each day.  Larry was a fabricator and inventor, using his shop and welder to make many things for his own use and for his place of work.

Larry enjoyed music. He enjoyed singing in his church choir, dancing, and listening to music, especially music from the Big Band era.  His biggest enjoyment was his family, especially his wife Rosemary; she was the love of his life and best friend.  His happiness was completed by his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, January 31 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Rd. 24,  Medina.  Visitation at church one hour prior to Mass.  Interment St. George’s Cemetery, Long Lake.  Memorials are preferred to Alternatives for People with Autism (APA).
