Linda Jane Horbal, 85, passed away on February 25, 2026. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, raised in Fremont, Iowa, and most recently made her home in Rogers, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fairy and Ronald Cook; her sister, Glenna; her daughter, Nancy; and her husband, Raymond. She is survived by her son, Bradley (Rebecca); grandchildren, Brennen and Katelyn; her brother, Tony (Shirley); her sister, Dixie; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Linda married Raymond on April 12, 1969. Together they raised their son, Bradley, in Champlin, Minnesota before later settling in Rogers.
A proud General Motors loyalist, Linda spent her career with Chevrolet, Pontiac, and ultimately the General Motors Training Center, where she retired. Never one to sit still, she enjoyed a second “retirement career” at Malmborg’s Nursery during the off‑seasons.
Linda found joy in tending to her flowers and lawn, often spending hours on her tractor ensuring every leaf was cleared. She delighted in feeding the squirrels and birds—especially the squirrels, who enjoyed a steady supply of peanut‑butter‑filled pretzels. She loved breakfast outings with friends and was a familiar face at her favorite local spots, most recently Linda’s Café in Rogers, where she proudly shared stories of her grandchildren’s accomplishments with anyone who would listen.
A devoted sports fan, Linda rarely missed a game. She spent decades cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Gophers, as well as the Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 7 at Gearty‑Delmore Funeral Chapel in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the service. A private inurnment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
