In Loving Memory of Lorna Begin
Lorna Begin was born in 1921 to Walter and Elsie Kitzman. She was the second youngest of five sisters—Arvila, Helen, Olive, Lorna, and Gloria—and spent her early years on the family farm in Buffalo and later in Princeton, Minnesota.
In 1940, Lorna moved to Minneapolis and married the love of her life, Bob Begin. Together they raised four children—Denny, Gail, Debbie, and Trudy—and built not just a family, but many homes over the years. Their first house began as a basement, built with the resources they had. They lived there while gradually completing the rest of the home, laying the foundation— both literally and figuratively—for a life marked by dedication and hard work.
Bob would handle much of the construction, while Lorna took pride in the intricate finishing touches, especially the woodwork. Lorna had a special gift for making people feel welcome, often through her love of cooking and baking. Her pies and bars became family favorites, and each summer, she joyfully canned peaches and pickles to share. Her many hobbies included gardening, beautiful quilts, afghans, bedspreads, and countless crocheted items that warmed both hearts and homes.
She lived independently in Plymouth, Minnesota, until the age of 100, before moving to assisted living in St. Cloud. Lorna celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends, calling it "the best day of her life." Even in her final years, she remained as playful and lighthearted as ever, always quick with a smile or a laugh. Lorna often marveled at how she came to have such a wonderful family, and the answer was simple: she taught them by example—with kindness, love and lots of giggles. She was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy of warmth and joy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
At the age of 104 she finally decided to go home. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; son, Dennis and her four sisters, Arvila, Helen, Olive and Gloria.
She is survived by her daughters Gail (Philip) Weber, Debbie Moore, Trudy (Robert) Trelford; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;9 great-great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
