Beloved daughter of Miles and Sophie Nablo, was born on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her parents on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
This past December, we received the devastating news that sweet Lucy had multiple severe congenital heart defects. Multiple doctors told us these conditions were not compatible with life, even with extensive surgical intervention. Together, we chose to continue with the pregnancy and give all our love to our precious baby girl for however much time we would have with her.
Our strong little Lucy was born at 37 weeks and gifted us with thirteen beautiful days on earth. She defied so many odds and gave us more time together than we ever expected. Her life was truly a miracle. Her dad baptized her shortly after birth, and we had the sacred privilege of bringing her home with hospice so we could be together as a family of four. Lucy’s older sister Emma lovingly nicknamed her “Baby Lulu.” These memories—made in both the hospital and at home—will be cherished forever.
Although heartbroken, we trust completely in Jesus Christ and His plan. God gave us the strength to be the parents Lucy needed. Every single day with her was a gift. We find comfort knowing she is now in the care of our Heavenly Father and that we will one day be reunited with her for eternity in Heaven.
Lucy’s short life was surrounded by endless love, prayers, peace, and comfort. She taught us more than we can express, and we will never be the same. She was deeply wanted and will always be fiercely loved. We named her Lucy, meaning “light,” because she will forever remind us of the light of Christ in our lives. It has been the greatest honor of our lives to be the parents of Emma and Lucy.
Lucy Kay is survived by her loving parents, Miles and Sophie Nablo; her sweet older sister, Emma Nablo; grandparents Todd and Jennifer Johnson and loving aunt Grace Johnson; grandparents Rick and Paula Nablo and uncle Pierce Nablo; and many other loving extended family members and friends.
We would like to thank all of the staff at Oakdale OBGYN, Maple Grove Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Maple Grove Hospital, and Children’s Hospice program. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Feltovich, Jenny Burgers, Dr. Bina, our home hospice care team, and all of the amazing nurses on the labor and delivery unit. Thank you to all of those who have supported us during this time, especially our families and friends and priest, Fr. Wratkowski. Funeral Mass and burial will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 10:30am., 155 County Road 24, Wayzata, MN 55391. A luncheon at Holy Name Church will follow Lucy’s burial. Memorials are preferred to the family for a charity to be determined at a later date.
