Mario Giovanni Pedercini, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 12th in Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Plymouth, MN.

Mario is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sharon Pedercini; daughter, Cara (Mike) Jennings; grandsons, Michael (Calley) Jennings and Ryan (Brianna) Jennings; and great-grandson, Colton Jennings. He was preceded in death by son, Michael Pedercini.

Mario was born in Cologne, Italy. He first came to the United States in 1954 and spent one year in a work-study program. While studying, he was housed on the Hamline University campus. During that year, he met Sharon. They were married in August of 1955, just two weeks before Mario had to return to Italy. He came back to the United States in February 1956 and began working for Northwestern Bell. Mario became a United States citizen in September 1959. He retired from U.S. West in 1990 after 34 years of service.

He joined Toastmasters in March 1967 and worked his way up to International Director for Toastmasters International from 1979 to 1981. Anyone who knew Mario knew that family and friends were always at the center of his life and heart. He loved his family, especially his grandsons, Michael and Ryan. There was no prouder grandpa than Mario. He also treasured friendships, both old and new.

Whether it was teaching water aerobics, volunteering at church, or simply helping wherever he was needed, he loved to stay busy. Mario will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, MN on Thursday, May 14th at 2 pm. Visitation to follow.
